THE MEDITATOR’S JOURNEY: an 8-week online course
Learnt lots of different meditation techniques and wondered how they fit together? Interested in learning a coherent approach to meditation and applying its lessons to everyday life that is underpinned by ancient Buddhist wisdom? This 8-week course can help clarify the journey you can go on as a meditator, and where your attention is best placed to make the most of your practice.

Insight, reflection and meditation
8 weeks, Tuesdays from June 1 to July 20, 6:30-8:30pm
This eight-week course aims to support reflection more often, more systematically, more effectively, and more deeply. Drawing on the book "The Art of Reflection" by Ratnaguna, we will explore different aspects and dimensions of reflection, including reflecting on experience, a specific topic, a written text, and meditative reflection. There will be various exercises to explore in the groups and in day-to-day life.

Buddhism and modern mindfulness
8 weeks, Thursdays from March 18 to May 6, 6:30-8:30pm
Plus a DAY RETREAT, Saturday, April 17, 9am-1pm
If you practice mindfulness-based approaches to stress reduction, pain management or general wellbeing, you might have an interest in learning more about the roots of the curriculum in their ancient and enduring context.
We invite mindfulness practitioners who have trained in secular forms to bring curiosity to the contemplative, ethical, even cosmological underpinnings of mindfulness meditation. Connections between MBSR and Samatha (concentration) and Vipassana (insight) will be drawn out, as well as an exploration of the Three Lakshanas (“marks of existence”), the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the Four Noble Truths, and the Eight-Fold Path.

Mindfulness-Based STRESS REduction

Try an 8-week online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course with an experienced Meditator and Facilitator, Ananta.
MBSR is an intensive, rigorously-researched training. It integrates meditation, movement, inquiry and daily mindfulness practices into the challenges and adventures of everyday life. You’ll learn to access your natural capacity to care for yourself. You’ll find greater balance and peace of mind.
MINDFUL EMOTION: A course IN KINDNESS BEHAVIOR TRAINING
8 weeks, Wednesdays from March 31 to May 19, 6:30-8:30pm
Plus a DAY RETREAT, Saturday May 15th, 9am-1pm
Mindful Emotion is all about kindness behavior training. Developed by a psychiatrist and clinical psychologist, and drawing on their clinical experience and Buddhist teachings, this course emphasizes ‘the heart’ in secular mindfulness meditation and practices.
Over 8-weeks you will learn practical exercises and meditations to cultivate kindness, and how to put kindness into practice in daily life.

Mindfulness of Breathing (Rolling in the Deep, Meditation Series) - VIA ZOOM
Oct 15th - Nov 19th 2020, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. EST
Mindfulness of Breathing is the first meditation practice explored in the series, over six weeks. It will focus on the early Buddhist teaching of Anapanasati, drawing on Larry Rosenberg’s book, ‘Breath by Breath’. You will gain an understanding of multiple ways to engage in breath-based meditation, to explore the weird and wonderful patterns of your mind, and to become more adept and applying mindfulness-based solutions to the stresses and joys you encounter, developing contentment and resilience.
COURSE: BUDDHIST TEACHINGS ON MINDFULNESS (Bethlehem, PA)
This 5-week course offers an opportunity to explore the essential Buddhist teachings at the heart of modern mindfulness. It will begin each week with guided meditations that emphasize stillness of mind and the cultivation of loving-kindness. Weekly teachings will explore the Buddha’s transformational approach to identifying what causes suffering, and applying simple and radical practices that help to alleviate stress and dis/ease.
COURSE: MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (NYC)
MBSR uses meditation, mindful movement, inquiry and informal daily mindfulness practices as a way of training people to relate differently to the stresses in their lives. This 8-week program is very suitable for newcomers to meditation. Experienced practitioners also find it helpful to revitalize their practice. All participants will benefit from a community of support and accountability in (re)building their practice.
COURSE: BUDDHIST UNDERPINNINGS OF MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (NYC)
3 WORKSHOPS FOR MBSR ALUMNI
Regardless of your level of engagement with the Buddhist tradition, if you practice mindfulness-based stress reduction, you might have an interest in learning more about the roots of the curriculum in their ancient and enduring context. Understanding the meditations such as the body scan, mindfulness of breathing, or open awareness within their Buddhist context can significantly enhance one’s appreciation of these practices, and even deepen them.
Course: What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Meditation Course in Loving-Kindness (NYC)
This four week course will explore how to creatively and effectively transform difficult emotions (anger, greed, boredom, anxiety) into loving kindness, a profoundly potent meditation, along with other positive emotions of compassion, joy and equanimity.
Dr. Ambedkar, Buddhism and US (ON-LINE)
This study module explores both the teaching and the life example of Dr. Ambedkar, as well as why both are important to the Triratna Buddhist Community and to Sangharakshita’s presentation of the Dharma. We will consider the implications of Dr. Ambedkar’s thinking for North America in particular. This opportunity for study and exploration is geared towards practitioners with some experience of Buddhism and meditation.
Course: The Meditator's Journey (NYC)
This five-week course gives a practical overview of the system of spiritual training in Triratna, from integration, positive mental states, receptivity/mindfulness, to spiritual death (insight) and spiritual rebirth.
COURSE: Essentials of MEditation & Buddhism (NYC)
This course will provide fundamental instruction on mindfulness and loving kindness meditation. Emphasis will also be placed on working with the mind and applying simple-yet-profound principles of living ethically, karma, community and interconnectedness to our everyday lives in NYC.
