In this home retreat, Karunadevi, and team, will lead us in meeting the five Buddha pairs in meditation and visualization. The symbolism of each pair of Buddhas is vast, comprehensive, and multifaceted. We will explore how these symbols relate to our human qualities and tendencies through meditations, talks, readings, discussions, and devotional practices.
On this retreat, we will explore some of the mythic imagery and nature themes in the Buddha's story, looking at how these unfold both in his teaching and within the Buddhist tradition, and are deeply relevant to our lives today.
Through meditation, imaginative exploration, ritual, chanting, discussion and reflection (with time each day away from our devices!) we’ll hear how images and teachings rooted in nature can be deeply connecting, revealing a path we can travel to find our own ground.
Drawing on an approach developed by Vidyamala over many years of teaching at Taraloka, this weekend retreat invites you to train as a compassionate warrior — courageous, tender, and open-hearted.

The Four Noble Truths were the Buddha’s first teaching, yet they never grow old. Each time we return to them with fresh eyes, they meet us exactly where we are. Just as in the Buddha’s time, there is suffering in our lives—stress, fear, confusion —that we can do something about.

Join us for five days of practice, dialogue, storytelling and contemplation as we explore the life and teachings of Sangharakshita, the founding teacher of the Triratna Buddhist Community. Through talks, meditation and discussion we will trace how one man’s journey—from post-war Britain to the foothills of the Himalayas—helped ignite a global movement grounded in the Buddha’s teachings.
The Triratna Buddhist Community was founded by Urgyen Sangharakshita and 2025 marks the one hundredth anniversary of his birth. For this special anniversary year our online celebration of Triratna Day will be a rejoicing in his life and qualities. In each of the three sessions we will hear from different Order members about life changing encounters with Sangharakshita and then meditate together as an international spiritual community.
