This fall weekend residential retreat is will explore the practice of the Brahma Viharas - a set of meditation practices focused on love, compassion, joy and equanimity. We will focus on cultivating all these qualities through meditation, ritual, discussion and living in community, with the help of song and music.

On this residential retreat at the Pendle Hill Quaker Retreat Center, we will focus on deceptively simple practices that can take us deep into meditation, opening us to delight, joy, and play and nourishing us to face challenges.

Monday Night Drop-In: The Four Noble Truths
June’s Monday night drop-in classes will follow the theme of “The Four Noble Truths.” In this 4-week span, we will come together to explore themes of the Dharma teachings from the Buddha.

Ambedkar’s Dharma of Liberation, Equality, Love, and Justice (Residential Retreat)
As a community, we will reflect on Ambedkar’s legacy and what we might integrate from his teachings and example for our times. To support deeper engagement, there is an intention to form affinity groups based on race/caste during the program.
Please note that half of the program spaces have been reserved for BLAIPOC (Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous & People of Color) attendees.

Triratna Day 2025 — Sangharakshita 100: A Garland of Rejoicings
The Triratna Buddhist Community was founded by Urgyen Sangharakshita and 2025 marks the one hundredth anniversary of his birth. For this special anniversary year our online celebration of Triratna Day will be a rejoicing in his life and qualities. In each of the three sessions we will hear from different Order members about life changing encounters with Sangharakshita and then meditate together as an international spiritual community.

NYC In-Person Practice Day: The Blue Buddha — Akshobhya
Throughout 2025,our sangha will have a focus on Akshobhya, the Blue Buddha of the East.
Ananta will lead a practice morning introducing the figure and his significance in the context of our everyday practice. Who is Akshobhya? Why is he blue? What is that thing he holds in his hand? How is he relevant to my life?

In light of the recent USA presidential election and the ongoing conflicts and tragedies in Gaza, the West Bank, Israel, Lebanon, Ukraine, Russia, and Sudan, many of us are feeling a profound sense of distress and concern. Viveka and Vimalasara warmly invite you to come together with us for a gathering that will provide a space for us to share our heartbreak and to explore what skillful actions might look like as we nurture our sangha.
