The Lion’s Roar: A Home Retreat with Paramananda & Friends (International Event)

Hosted By: Paramananda
Friday, July 3rd to Thursday, July 9th, 2026

Online via Zoom - see session times below

Event Description:

🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️ Seven days of meditation, soulful exploration, and strong, supportive friendship: a safe space to go deeper into experience and practice.

A Home Retreat led by Paramananda, in collaboration with Melbourne Buddhist Centre

Whenever the Buddha spoke the Dharma, it is said to have sounded like a lion’s roar. And in Middle Eastern myth, when a lioness gives birth to stillborn cubs, they are brought to life by the mighty roar of their mother. On this meditation retreat, Paramananda and friends will be waking us up every day — heart, mind, and body — to the promise of our full potential.

Following Paramananda’s work with the symbols of the alchemical tradition — where the green lion is a symbol for the heart — the retreat will focus on how we can be more present to the depths of our own experience, and also more comfortable being in the world. Both of these take love and courage: two qualities cultivated by the Buddha as essential on the path.

Paramananda is one of Triratna’s most loved meditation teachers and a great friend of Home Retreats on The Buddhist Centre Online. We are delighted to welcome him back this July as part of another joint retreat with the fabulous team at the Melbourne Buddhist Centre in Australia!

Join us for an emergent space that will include meditation, poetry, reflections, small and large group discussions and enquiry, teaching input, drumming, guided practices, and creative Buddhist ritual.

This retreat is presented in collaboration with Melbourne Buddhist Centre. The second session each day will be broadcast live from the Centre shrine room in Melbourne. Come and practice in truly international community!

Attend any or all conversations in Zoom.

This event will be recorded and may be published online for others to access. Only the leader's video will be used except where users consent to appear spotlighted in a public conversation. Private conversations in breakout rooms will not be recorded.

Get one ticket and come to any session you wish!

Like all Buddhist Centre events, this retreat is offered by donation rather than charging a compulsory ticket price. We want to do this because we never want money to be an obstacle to taking part in a supportive community, and we know many people are struggling financially. The amount we suggest reflects the huge amount of work and love that goes into putting on events we hope will benefit everyone attending. If you can, please donate today. Thank you!

About the Leader:

Paramananda is an inspirational and much loved Buddhist teacher who has written a number of books on Buddhism and the craft of meditation, including 'Change Your Mind', ‘A Deeper Beauty’, and mostly recently ‘The Myth of Meditation: Restoring Imaginal Ground through Embodied Buddhist Practice’.
