Sangha Night With Fay & Michael (Online)

The Creative Life: Acting & Movement as Practice
Led By: Fay Simpson and Michael King
Monday, November 9th, 2026
6:30 - 8:15 pm EST

Online via Zoom

Event Description:

For the remaining Sangha Nights of 2026, we’ll continue to follow our theme of Ratnasambhava Buddha, with an emphasis on the forces of creativity.

Lucid Mind/Lucid Body

Join us as we explore acting and movement as creative forces for Dharma practice. Fay Simpson will lead us in a discussion of the role of somatic engagement and physical awareness in our Buddhist learning experiences. Creativity is highly valued in the Triratna System of Practice. Let’s discuss!

Sangha Nights are a special, once-a-month opportunity for the Triratna NY-NJ community to come together for an evening of Dharma programming and companionship. We gather on Zoom for meditation, Dharma talk and input, discussion groups, and reflections — all held within the context of spiritual friendship and community.

Agenda:

Discussion of somatic awareness in one’s meditation practice and the value of playing with archetypes to free up parts of self trapped inside our limited personalities. A physical warm-up will occur, so bring your yoga mats!

About the Leaders:

Fay has been a part of the Triratna community for over 20 years, and a mitra for the last ten. She is a teacher and founder of a holistic process of self-transformation called the Lucid Body. This process has been infused with the values and ideals of Buddhism, which continue to guide and stabilize her life as a theater teacher, director, and choreographer. Fay is dedicated to bringing the jewels of the Buddhist philosophy into the theater world, and the wisdom of the theatrical process into the Buddhist community and beyond.

Michael has been a part of the Triratna community since 2017, and began his journey with the Brighton Buddhist Center. That fateful visit to the Brighton Buddhist Center led to his asking for ordination in December 2022. His full time-career is as a renewable energy developer; however, in his mid-teens he discovered classical ballet and subsequently trained and performed into his late 30’s with Indianapolis Ballet Theater, Ballet Austin and as a guest performer in the US, Canada and Japan. Michael has experienced many convergences between the world of dance and the world of the Dharma and continues to develop spiritually, professionally and creatively as a practicing Buddhist.
